I really loved our Monotone Rip Art Session. The restriction of being able to work with one colour was a really important parameter for our participants. In many ways, I think it can make it easier as you are sourcing just one shade from your magazines. You can be free to pull as much colour as you like and rip and arrange your page later in the process.
A little tip, be mindful of colour or don’t. Go for it, but be extra attentive for where the colour might be no matter how small because you can use it to block and create sequences on your page.
It turns out that orange is a very hard colour to locate in magazines it doesn't come up that often. Well, not in the magazines that we had but when you do find it at is spectacular to look at.
This is Jessica's work. Jackets can be kept whole or ripped up to layer. There are no rules, just have fun, go with your instinct and enjoy the creative process.
First step find the colour and rip it out of the magazine.
Secondly, arrange it in a way that appeals to you and glue it down.
Or rip to your heart’s content. That is fun too. Save your papers to glue for another day.
