Our magical company was created to empower all voices and give space to tell stories and create the art from the heart. While building social trust so that each participant could find safety and home in new friendships within the disabilities community.
Hutt Playback Theatre Company 2015
This project specialized in merging the disability and mental health communities together to create one unique voice.
Deep sharing and witnessing was taking place in these workshops. It was supported by Hutt City Council and the Creative Communities Fund and we finished with a performance at The Dowse.
Introduction to Playback Mana College 2016
Team Mana College were legends leaping into a six week program in Playback Theatre activating curiosity, play and purpose with story. It was our humble beginning to our work with Whitford Brown
Manaaki Playback Project 2019 -2020
A most inspiring group of young people with amazing energy and passion for their community. This project was supported by the Hutt City Council Arts and Culture Fund. Transforming relationships, building confidence and using their voice to showcase their skills.
Alpha Omega Playback Theatre Company 2014 - 2020
The first year was supported by Wellington City Council and Creative Communities. Because we do get asked: participants valued the project enough to pay for it, this investment in themselves meant continued success over a long period.
Tuku Iho Playback Theatre Company 2016
This project was loud and proud in Porirua Region and supported participants of Mana College and Whitford Brown into experiencing play, storytelling and expression while gently introducing members of each community to each other.
Introduction to Playback Theatre 2017
Over six sumptuous sessions, old friends and new friends came together to experience Playback and the offerings of music. The depth of sharing and intimacy will always be treasured.
They performed for their community and a local rest home to conclude this project.
Maranaga Does Playback 2019
This project was a part of my Exploding the Spark program. An intention slow delivery of one hour sessions presented over a year as we partnered with the needs of the participants and built confidence while working with the different playback themes. This group’s focus was play and building community connection from within.
AOPTC has performed publicly and privately over the years showing how dynamic people with disabilities are. It is only our perception that creates limitation.

Whitford Brown is a day service supporting creative and life building skills with people in Porirua and is the next natural step for many of the high school students. I wanted to be able to create safe, creative experiences to deepen our connection in a gentle way so trust could given with ease.
