Film Premiere of Coconuts & Communication Films at Nga Taonga Sound and Vision

On Monday the 10th of December 2018 in conjunction with Nga Taonga Sound and Vision we premiered the films that participants from Thumbs Up have been working on over the last year. We screened to 70 people from the Thumbs Up and the community in a special screening enabling all the participants of Thumbs Up to have access to a cinema experience.

Our creative vision included Panel discussions to go with each film.

It was a really special experience and we look forward to creating more in the future. We invite you to view the films below.

The films are in the order we showed at the screening.

It was really nice to see a different side of Jessica on the screen all that confidence. As I think about it, everyone’s confidence has grown and that’s been awesome to see.

This film was follow by an awesome panel discussion led by Shannon and award ceremony for the participants.

We weren’t quite able to show the full screening at Nga Taonga Sound and Vision. Ta da! Here it is! This film was created by the students with the support of Shannon, Ben, Bee and Mel. It is behind the scenes from storyboards to filming and editing.

Thanks so much for the event yesterday! I had a great time and thought it went really well. I also learnt a lot about non-verbal communication, and it was fab to see everyone on screen.

Myilee said” Wow they did well at learning their scripts”

Dillon “Not to bad at all”

”Energetic, tense, great idea having the thought bubbles ! I enjoyed how everyone perceived their time on the ship and how the concept was portrayed” :) In regards to the time energy and effort into it- hands down incredible energy and determination went into that!
